Who is Univarsity? We are a new sports-tech start-up pioneering change in the university sports industry to create a healthier student body and currently seeking pre-seeding funding. We have recently been applauded for our win at the Super Connect for Good - virtual finals, hosted by Hays and Empact Ventures, partnered with Microsoft for Startups.
The prestigious, international, competition is a movement that celebrates and rewards selected companies that enhance people’s lives through technological innovation, by introducing partnerships and collaboration between top growth organisations and tech start-ups and scale-ups.
The competition sought out and judged the best Tech-for-good businesses in 10 different categories. Univarsity pitched in the ‘Pre-seed Challenege’ alongside 9 other tech-for-good pre-seed finalists who were selected from a large pool of applicants.
Three judges representing Microsoft for start-ups, Empact Ventures, and Hays heard the pitches and came together and named Univarsity as the winner based on our positive social impact, business and market, and quality of the pitch.
Jimmy Cockerton, UK Strategy Manager, Microsoft, who represented Microsoft for Startups, hailed Univarsity’s pitch as “one of the best pitches that he has seen at other events“ going on to praise Univarsity’s business model - “It knew its business and market, and pitched with great confidence".
To be selected as a finalist was an honour in its-self, so for Univarsity to go on to win in our category was not only a huge achievement but also validates our business model and impact led ethos.
We would like to thank Jimmy Cockerton for his feedback and all those involved with the Super Connect for Good competition.
